Metal Hose
A Durable Solution for the Chemical Industry
When dealing with harsh chemicals, metal hoses offer exceptional durability against wear and tear. These hoses excel at combatting high pressures, extreme temperatures, abrasion, overbending, and permeation. Though these hoses are generally heavier and less flexible compared to plastic options, they are better equipped for extreme environments. Common applications for the chemical industry include dry materials handling, fume exhaust, vacuum, and railcar/truck/in-plant chemical transfer.
The Triad Advantage
At Triad Technologies, we work hard to ensure you get the hoses you need when you need them. Our warehouse stocks the hose and end components necessary to make a variety of standard and non-standard assemblies quickly, then ship them directly to you. We are also equipped for the certification and testing of hoses as requested.
Corrugated Metal Hose
Corrugated metal hoses are a reliable and versatile option for chemical transfer applications due to their unique combination of strength, flexibility, and durability. These hoses are constructed from a corrugated metal tube, such as stainless steel, which offers excellent corrosion resistance. The corrugated design creates a flexible structure that can handle movement and vibration in piping systems, reducing stress on connected components. An outer layer of single- or double-layer welded metal braids, prioritize pressure handling and permeation prevention.
Features & Benefits:
-
Superior chemical compatibility and corrosion resistance, ensuring safe and contamination-free product transfer
-
Corrugated design for easier installation in confined spaces and accommodates movement and vibration within the system
-
Built to withstand high pressures commonly encountered in chemical processing applications (up to 3000+ PSI)
-
Long-lasting performance in harsh chemical environments
-
Broad temperature tolerance
-
Abrasion resistant
-
Gas-tight for secure chemical containment
Stripwound Metal Hose
Stripwound metal hoses offer a unique solution within the chemical hose industry, particularly for abrasive materials or applications where leak containment isn't critical. These hoses are constructed by spirally winding a thin metal strip, typically stainless steel, to create a flexible and pressure-resistant conduit. While not gas-tight, stripwound hoses excel in their durability and resistance to abrasion, making them ideal for transferring dry bulk materials or as protective guards for hoses susceptible to wear and tear.
Triad offers four types of flexible stripwound metal hose: Squarelock, Interlock, Double Groove, and Smooth Bore. Sizes range from .100″ ID up to 40″ ID and can be made from various metals like stainless steel, galvanized steel, brass, bronze, aluminum, etc.
Features & Benefits:
-
Metal construction offers exceptional resistance to wear and tear, ideal for transferring abrasive materials
-
Broad temperature tolerance suitable for specific hot chemical transfer needs
-
Greater flexibility than corrugated options
-
Ideal for medium-pressure applications (15-20 PSI)
-
Able to maintain their shape under full vacuum conditions
-
Long-lasting performance
-
With various designs and materials to choose from, stripwound hoses can be tailored to meet specific application needs
Jacketed Metal Hose
Jacketed metal hoses excel in the chemical hose industry by providing a safe and efficient solution for transferring heated or cooled chemicals. These assemblies consist of two key components: an inner core hose made of corrugated metal and an outer jacket hose of larger diameter. The inner hose facilitates chemical transfer, while the outer jacket offers a circulation path for heating or cooling media like steam, hot oil, or even chilled water. This jacketed design allows for precise temperature control of the conveyed chemicals.
Features & Benefits:
-
Enables precise heating or cooling of chemicals during transfer, critical for maintaining product integrity and process efficiency in various chemical applications
-
Jacketed design minimizes safety risks associated with high or low-temperature chemicals
-
Stainless steel construction offers exceptional strength, corrosion resistance, and the ability to withstand high pressures and harsh chemical environments
-
Can be customized with different hose sizes, jacket materials, and end fittings to suit a wide range of chemical transfer applications
Metal Expansion Joints
Metal expansion joints safeguard piping systems from stress and strain These components, typically constructed from stainless steel or other corrosion-resistant alloys, absorb movement caused by thermal expansion and contraction within the piping system. This prevents excessive stress on hoses, reducing the risk of leaks, tears, and potential chemical spills. Metal expansion joints come in various configurations, such as bellows, flex joints, and expansion loops, to accommodate different piping layouts and movement requirements.
Features & Benefits:
- Absorb thermal expansion and contraction, safeguarding hoses from stress and strain
- Help to minimize the risk of leaks and potential chemical spills
- Protect pumps, valves, and other connected equipment from damage caused by thermal stress
- Corrosion-resistant metal construction offers long service life in harsh chemical environments
- Available in various configurations
A Wide Variety of Hose Ends are Available for Metal Assemblies
While metal chemical hose assemblies offer superior durability for chemical applications, the beauty of these assemblies lies in their customizable ends. Because metal hose can be welded, Triad Technologies can provide a virtually unlimited variety of end fittings to suit your specific needs. Common fittings include male NPT, 150# fixed or floating flanges, and cam and groove adapters. Common modifications include blow-down or drain ports, jump sizes, and hooks for hanging.
